Watching more Mosfilm movies, it seems like Russia had incredibly good film stock, back when movies actually needed film. Low dynamic range, but such incredibly rich colour.

@sixohsix Hmm, I'm not sure about this, but didn't a bunch of movies get colored in post-production?

@Gargron it might be, but I looked up this one. Stalker (1979) was filmed in Kodak 5247 film. But that's the same film that Hollywood was using so I'm not sure how they got such a good result. The movie is like a velvety Instagram filter.
