My brother & I start a death pool at the beginning of each year. Each lists 10 names of famous people who will die that year.
In the last 8 years we've been doing this, between the two of us, we guess at least one every year. This year, though it isn't quite over and with the pandemic, not one has on both our lists has croaked. Useless pandemic.
I told a friend about this 'death pool' & she was horrified I put bets on famous people dying. Like I always say, I'm a gambler, baby.
@lo I hear that used to be a common game around Halloween. In that show Northern Exposure they would take bets because they had to pre-dig graves due to the frozen ground in winter. Most modern people are so sheltered from death that they never consider it. In North Carolina we would have Decoration Day with the church.
