Leader: “Good morning”
*Silence*
Leader: “Is that is? I said Good Morning!”
Congregation: “Good morning!”
Leader: “Better. Act excited in the house if God!”
This bothers me. “Act excited” - why should people be fake in the house of God? Would we want to encourage Jeremiah not to write his laments? Would we encourage the psalmists not to write their songs of lament and judgement?
Shouldn’t we be genuine in the house of God?
@jfslicer
I've thought about this before...
Why does my energy have to match their energy?
I get their trying to make a positive experience... but maybe the leader needs to accept where the Congregation is at that morning.

"But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned for you, and you didn’t lament.'" -Matthew 11:16-17
