For some time now, I've been thinking about moving away from music streaming services and back to actually owning the music I like. I don't know how I'm going to do it yet, but some sort of self-hosted streaming solution would be nice to have, even though I mostly listen on my computer.
Anyway, I have to start somewhere and what better way to do that than to buy the entire discography of one of my favorite artists, @lukhash
Thanks for the wicked tunes!

@saaste i always resisted being dependent on streaming services and have all music downloaded and synced between my devices... guess i'm one of the few ones that carries >30k (normally playable) musictitles AND ~15k mods on my smartphone^^
but i like it ...
and never regretted it ...
@Pixlar That was actually an option I was thinking about. With SyncThing (which I already use) it would be easy to sync the whole collection to multiple devices. Sure, it takes up some space, but space is cheap these days.
Are you happy with mp3s or do you also have some sort of archive of lossless files?
@saaste i use syncthing too 🙂
whenever i can, i prefer lossless files (like from bandcamp, CD-rips, ...) but of course i also have lots of mp3's
@Pixlar Just out of interest: What software do you use to play and organize your music? I used to use Winamp until Spotify came along and threw me into the streaming world, so my knowledge of music software and apps is not exactly up to date 😆
@daniel @saaste wow, sounds impressive! i don't have speakers in the house, usually listening on pc or smartphone - but i often think about, because it's nice to have background music around ... What hardware do you use?
