Two months ago when I went full vegan for health reasons and dedicated myself to exercising every day, I committed to reaching a healthy weight. I started at almost 210 pounds with a goal of 170. I have not weighed less than 190 in over a decade. Today I weighed in at my lowest so far, 179.7lbs. I am excited by my progress and being able to see my goal from here.

@cmdln Well done. I've been learning about nutrition for about a year and love listening to Dr. Peter Attia and other evidence based advocates. Started reading How Not to Die by Dr. Michael Greger, and though I think he does some cherry picking, I think there is something to the whole food, plant based diet. All the centenarians I've known were poor growing up. They ate a lot of carbs in the form of beans, sweet potatoes, and greens. Thinking of giving it a shot.

@daniel That is the sole criticism I've heard, some cherry picking. Honestly, I think that criticism applies to both sides of the argument. I am reading Dr. Essestyn's book right now which seems a little more even handed as he does include some negative outcomes. My cholesterol was already improved by eliminating meat three years ago. Giving up eggs, dairy, and added oil was a smaller change for me. We'll see what my blood work in Feb reveals.
