It's 2021. Do we have any decent open-source mind-mapping software yet?

I suppose what I actually want is "mindmapping software that isn't even about diagrams"

I know that seems like a contradiction in terms, but it's the *data* I want to keep track of rather than a pretty picture.

If it had a completely text-mode view of that data, that would be super-neat.

Like the only other options seem to be:

* raw text file
* Markdown notebook
* personal Wiki
* bibliographic software (only for references)
* a custom database I guess

Don't we have any class of software for a task like "tracking arguments / claims / citations in a complex information space" ?

@natecull @hexmasteen I've used Ranger FM for something like that in the past with simple files and folders. It is great because of the simplicity.
