Tomorrow:

- Numbers 4-7 (dry, but adultery test & Nazirite vow are interesting)

- 1 Kings 17-20 (Elijah/Ahab/ Jezebel; Mt. Carmel)

- Psalms 79-82

- Lamentations 3 - Ezekiel 1 (Hear a tune in your head with Lamentations 3:22-24; the book of Ezekiel starts off with a bang!)

- Romans 4-7 (The "desert." Also see 6:3-6 - it's a shame some people use 1 Corinthians 1:17 to preach Paul didn't believe baptism necessary!)

I know I have hit this a couple of times. Baptism. Perhaps the most common and worst false teaching I can think of is that baptism isn't necessary, and that it was Paul who said so.

If I can help arm people with only one thing, it is the ability to take the double-edged sword of the Word to this killer of souls and destroy it... mercilessly.

2 Corinthians 10:5

It is one thing for someone to disbelieve in Jesus.

That is a different matter than someone who believes in Jesus and that they are saved without baptism because someone "told them so."

That is easily proven false by those who know the Word. Be one of those savers of souls. At least attempt to be.

Difference of opinion on this doctrine has ended the most number of pastor interviews in our church. It is a historically divisive topic that really shouldn't be and I think people tend to over-complicate it. Comparing baptism to patterns in relationships like marriage and adoption seems to help most folks understand the necessity. Charts are not usually helpful.
