I have a PGP Thunderbird email question.

I set up keys on my laptop and can successfully send encrypted emails from it. I exported the private (secret) key to a backup file with the passphrase that Thunderbird prompts me to do.

I then imported that secret key into my other computer's Thunderbird installation that has the same email address set up, but it doesn't allow me to send encrypted emails. The "Encrypt" button is greyed out and not an option. I've also imported the public key of the email address I want to send to.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior when importing a secret pgp key into Thunderbird that was created on another Thunderbird installation?

Any solutions?

@matthew I haven’t used Thunderbird with PGP, but I do know that I’ve had to trust imported keys before they worked.
