This week I learned that one of my family members has been a victim of sexual abuse for the past 6 years. It's not what you might think. No, this was a close female family friend who began a sick, manipulative, guilt-tripping relationship with a 14 Y.O. male. It doesn't take much to entice a teenager and when she had him, the shame and fear of exposure created a trap that crushed his soul and destroyed a thing meant for good. It caught everyone off guard, but the signs were there in retrospect.

@lauralynn Any news on your son? I wouldn't worry too much about the D&D games, I know a lot of Christians who have made good, long lasting friendships playing together. His future hangs mostly on his decisions and God's will from now on. When he comes home, let your lifestyle and love of the Lord be a beautiful and refreshing thing in contrast to the world he is being exposed to. Don't let your home be a place of judgement in his mind. Ask and learn about the things he is seeing out there.

@be Fair enough, but from a distance I can imagine it.

@be Nothing except a faint resemblance to the chainsaw man.

@MaryMamuzich @Ctyree I'm not really against GMO's on principle, God did tell us to fill the earth and subdue it. What I am certain of is that we are not wise or mature enough to use the tools of genetic manipulation. The decision to genetically engineer a crop that could be around for millennia should be carefully considered for decades. I think we are slowly learning that there are no free lunches and that many of short-term benefits of GMO's aren't panning out long-term. Certainly label them!

@sinbach Glad this works now, but don't be surprised when Amazon makes the connection with web traffic and strong-arms these companies to only do business through them. They wield far too much power and I never thought I would see some of the abuses that are becoming normal. When governments, corporations, or people get too much power, they can't help but do evil with it; it is their nature. It was our nature too, but we have been gifted a new nature. Embrace it and do good!

@Cherishingsparrows2020 @MaryMamuzich Sorry, I must have blacked out it was so good! It had a neat, barely crunchy texture that I thought might be salt at first, but I'm not sure. Better run another test.

Going to be a cold night.

@Terry BS, I've lived on both kind of diets and carb heavy is much better for multi-day hiking and such. Definitely easier to store more calories/space with fats when mobile though. If I lived in that time period, I would move around, avoid nasty cities, but still cook most everything. Oh, and beer. Beer is good.

Working on the computer this morning while listening to the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. Escape started playing and Heidi ran over and looked down to me through the balusters on the main level. She barked some toddler-speak at me indicating that she wanted to dance. We did and it was beautiful.

@sinbach A couple weeks every now and then is kinda nice, but a couple months is a bit much. I always tend to get more fit when we're apart due to exercising more and not getting fed...good luck!
