I just wanted to buy an eGift card for Heidi's teacher. First place, Chick-Fil-A ran the transaction and cancelled the order twice giving vague reasons. Transaction went through on the second place, but order is stuck in processing limbo. This is an eGift card. It should be faster than going to a physical location and buying a card. Send the dang email. One of my favorite aspects of cryptocurrency is that transactions just happen without all of this nonsense. What is it gaining these companies?

I’m not a big drinker, but this looks like it could have been fun!

This speech is pretty good and I've shared it before. Not all cryptocurrency/network projects are selfish and about getting rich. How do we make the world better instead of accepting that things will always get worse? It takes faith, work, sacrifice, and a resolution to not quit.

I have always wondered how some things can be such a good value. Take toilets for instance. You can get a pretty good one for under $300 and you probably won’t have to replace it in your lifetime. What else can you and others use multiple times a day for that long and claim that? One of the most annoying things that builders cut costs on too IMO.
TIL: the original version of the Serenity Prayer was very different, and much stronger! the modern version that everyone knows goes
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference"
but the original version, as written by Reinhold Niebuhr, is
"Father, give us courage to change what must be altered, serenity to accept what cannot be helped, and the insight to know the one from the other"
three key changes weakened it substantially:
* us -> me
* what *must* be altered -> what i *can* change
* switching the first two clauses, placing the emphasis on serene acceptance rather than reforming courage
Making vaccines mandatory is a bad idea. Obviously it's probably one of the most intrusive acts ever. What can be more intrusive than being required to get a needle in your arm, even against your will?
And second, who do you try to motivate with this? People who are afraid of the vaccine, will rush to doctors to get an exemption or fuel a black market for avoidance strategies. Those who oppose this for political reasons will consider it proof for their nightmares.
So what's the goal?
