Guys, another friendly reminder, say “No” to central bank digital currencies(CBDC’s). Educate yourself about what they are and understand the seriousness of the dangers they present. Talk to your friends about them because the powers that be will try to force their adoption.

Well $55 for shipping and a probable 50% the cost of the bike for a return(since we tried it) means that I have a new bike! Any saddle recommendations? The stock model is going to have me limping.

6) This bike is quiet.
7) I missed riding a bike. It was fun!

I'm not sure if it's worth taking apart and returning. I would probably have to pay some kind of fee. Bummed that it didn't work out for her though. I had planned to do something cheaper for myself, but now I don't know.

I didn't want to Frankenstein together a bike for my wife, so I got one online and put it together this afternoon. I learned a few things.

1) The bike is too big for her at 57cm(she is 5'9"), but it is fine for me.
2) Presta valves are a thing.
3) Hauling a child comfortably will require more gears.
4) This is a pretty good single speed. I was pleasantly surprised that it was geared fairly high.
5) It was not relaxing or very comfortable to ride, though 5 miles in 20 mins was nice.

Anyone here build a bike from scratch with online parts? There are some pretty cheap whole bikes with decent reviews, but with a couple flaky parts. Maybe just upgrade those parts? Seems like anywhere wants around $600+ for a decent bike. I just want a steel frame, single speed that fits and rides well.

@mary and I have been getting into the Hamish Macbeth series.

Was reading an article about hail and how a child was recently killed by a hailstone.

Revelations describes a coming hailstorm with stones over 100 lbs! I can’t think of many structures that could survive such an event.

My little garden has had a hard season. It has gone through: snow, days of pouring rain, hail, wind, heat, moles, ants, moths and tiny black bugs!
I muscled my way through some pretty beat up thick skinned vegetables. The insides are sweet soft tender goodness that will nourish my husband and I through the winter.
I think we Christians probably look a lot like this little kohlrabi with it's tough skin from our enemy constantly hitting us with everything bad...BUT!! God will provide, protect and use us to complete His good will.
So, let us keep our attitude looking for the good in all things and ppl. Let's march on in the strength of Jesus Christ our Savior.
I continue to pray for all you beautiful DD ppl!! My family - my forever friends!

This is an interesting/well done documentary about interactive fiction(AKA text based games). It's given me some things to think about for sure.

@ifixcoinops I recently learned that a whole bunch - hundreds to maybe thousands - of those "wooden castle" playgrounds from the 70s were the work of (mostly) one guy, Bob Leathers. He'd travel to different cities, spend a bit of time "consulting" with kids to figure out what they wanted in a playground, then in a four day blitz of community volunteer labor and donated materials they'd build a playground from scratch. His work is all over the US and Gen X / elder Millennials probably played on one of his creations. Each one was a real community effort and personalized to the kids' wishes.

As they had an estimated 25 year lifespan, many have been bulldozed and replaced with bright metal painted safer equipment. Some still remain in active use though, or have gotten a refurb by the community!

(Excerpts from a 1980 NYT article about his constructions)
