Something like a monthly deadman switch would be a nice feature. If a timer isn't reset, send out info to the right people.

OK, I don't use a password manager, but I'm starting to feel the need for one. If I died or had a head injury, my wife would just be hosed trying to access everything. I would probably be in the same boat if something happened to her. It would be nice to have a working solution for me, her, and my aging parents as well. They rely on their phones to do so much of everything and I'm not sure I can break them of it. Any ideas are welcome, but I keep leaning toward just writing them in a notebook.

I miss and love being back home in the woods. This yellow poplar is over 150’ tall and about 29” in diameter.

Gauls! We have nothing to fear; except perhaps that the sky may fall on
our heads tomorrow. But as we all know, tomorrow never comes!!

We’re heading out east for my brother’s wedding, just saw a Mastodon shirt!

Any HVAC guys out there?
Looking to build a water to water heat pump with off the shelf parts and am sure to learn a few things along the way. Any advice is welcome.
I want to pull heat from a pool(88°F) and add it to a hot water tank(140°F).

Thought this might be a good idea and it already exists. This can solve several problems in the new house.
1.) Moving materials during the build. Will have to install 2 for the carts and a wench at the top.
2.) Accessibility for aging parents, when the time comes.
3.) Water removal for a weird roof detail.
4.) Bikes?

Had our first family bike trip today and it was a great time for everyone! @mary found a used bike seat for Heidi, so we grabbed lunch and picked that up. Since it was on the way back home, we stopped by Cabela's because Heidi likes the fish tank. Lo and behold the same bike seat was there by the fish tank, only it was $130 instead of the $25 found ours for. Got home, put the seat on, and Heidi was squealing with joy! The stroller won't be good enough anymore...

Here's good talk by Mark Shepard on restoration agriculture a few years back. Worth a listen.

Write code that obviously has no defects, rather than code that has no obvious defects.

@mary and I found a new sitter for Heidi so we can go out for a bit together each week. The sitter is 22 and she's trying to finish up school, go out on her own, and she's pretty ambitious and successful. She's mentioned having baby fever and wanting a family and it struck me at how natural, good, and rare that is these days. Most of society would label her as crazy, or at least it would put a black mark on her in the dating scene.

Guys, another friendly reminder, say “No” to central bank digital currencies(CBDC’s). Educate yourself about what they are and understand the seriousness of the dangers they present. Talk to your friends about them because the powers that be will try to force their adoption.

Well $55 for shipping and a probable 50% the cost of the bike for a return(since we tried it) means that I have a new bike! Any saddle recommendations? The stock model is going to have me limping.
