@lo I usually buy Leicas for surveying. Love their gear.

@rastites "Wisdom is before the face of one who has understanding, but the eyes of a fool wander to the ends of the earth." -Proverbs 17:24(WEB)
Not calling you a fool, but keep focused on the world in front of you, your sphere of influence. Look for opportunities to be the body of Christ. Stop worrying about the big picture, because God has that covered. It is too much for us to worry about the whole world, but by all means let's keep praying! Remember James 3:17. You're not alone though!

@retiredguru@social.linux.pizza I've got an old 32 bit laptop that helps heat my house and acts as a print server. It stops its wireless connection from time to time, might be this...

Anyone else remember this? I haven't really ever trusted our election system when numbers are close enough that a couple of malcontents can alter the results, and I don't know if any wrongdoing/accidents took place. I just want a fair election.

Just powered through 17hrs of intense CAD work through the night. I think I would be less tired if I had just walked the whole time. Once I get done with this conference call, I don't even want to look at a computer for a few days...

Politics discussion

@Gina I think women in many professions have to bring more to the table than their male peers. I see politics in the US to still be there somewhat. The women you do see often have to be more extreme in their views to get elected and in a way that doesn't help make them relatable to many as a representative.

@Gina I think we're ready for a female president, but admittedly the bar would have to be higher than for a man; however, that is still pretty low if you've been paying attention. I would rather the first female president be elected in, rather than take over from VP. That seems like it would detract a bit from it all.

There was once a vote between Jesus and Barabbas. Jesus lost. Thank goodness that humankind does not have the final say in the matter of its destiny. If we had our way, we would find ourselves in ruin every time. Thank God for His kindness and grace. Let's not lean on our own understanding.

I would not willingly hand over the authority to close and open churches to the civil government even if ebola was sweeping our land and bodies were stacked high in the streets.

@sheogorath There's a lot of media that would have been lost if not for pirate fans. I copy all my physical media to NAS. I have boxes of DVDs that stay out of sight in storage. Copyright laws have been perverted and the goalpost is always changing. Always let your conscience be your guide.

First Sunday back inside, hope I can keep everything working!

Friendly reminder: "X as a service" is just a misleading corporate euphemism for "pay forever for not owning it".

"Software as a service" actually means "pay forever for not owning the software".

"Games as a service" actually means "pay forever for not owning games".

"Infrastructure as a service" actually means "pay forever for not owning the hardware".

And so on.

There is no "cloud", it's just other people's computers
