@COTimesRecorder A good article that states the facts. I can't guess Hans Mai's opinion of the university or their stance on issues and that is refreshing. CCU is not wrong, there are a lot of people who are frustrated with higher education because it has become a place so embracing of Leftist values that it can't tolerate any others. I know several folks to who go to CCU and they all love people, regardless of their stage in life. They don't believe that the state is the cure for everything.

@deutrino I ran one for my family around 6 years ago on a box with 4GB of RAM and a 6 core Phenom ii. Worked fine. Version 1.7 IIRC. The mods we did were just Python scripts pushing commands through the server, no JavaScript stuff. Every new version broke stuff. Minetest is less mature, but turned out to be just as fun, way more snappy, and our mods stopped breaking. Plus we don’t have to rely on Microsoft’s authentication servers to log in.

@atyh People like John Ochsendorf and the Block Research Group have done some nice work trying to get compression vaulted structures back on people's radar. Guastavino was one of the greats with that technology.

@atyh Yeah, it’s the rebar. Take a look at Hashima Island for how not to do it. If you use the right concrete mix and get the proper coverage on the reinforcement, modern structures can last a really long time. Sometimes people do get it right and in a thousand years folks will be talking about how well we built stuff. Survivor’s bias. It’s like no one thinks about building things to last or to be efficiently recycled. Worst of both worlds.

@ajroach42 Methane/Natural Gas. Still flammable, but much easier to store without t leaks and it's plentiful.
