My dad turns 70 tomorrow, so I’m going to fly in to see him tonight toting 70oz of beef jerky that my lovely wife made. Wish me luck!

@reiver never got onto Twitter, but did FB a couple of times a month. FB just got worse and worse, to the point I didn't want to use it anymore. I had heard of Diaspora and decentralized social media and decided to take a look in 2019. Turned out the Fediverse was pretty cool and mature. Much of the software was WAY better than what FB had cobbled together. I love the organic feel without the ads and spyware.

@MaryMamuzich We've all missed you and have been praying you guys!

We had a busy few days last week when my parents came to visit for my birthday! A lot of fun times and good memories🙂

This interview with Nathan Pritikin from 1982 still has a lot of great information. We now have a better understanding of some of the mechanisms behind health and disease, but his advice still holds up.

I’ve recently fallen down a rabbit hole regarding write once, read multiple (WORM) data storage. I know there are hard drives that do this, along with optical disks, but has anyone ever used an operating system that is built around this principle? It would be like your system having constant snapshots. It wouldn’t be practical for everything, but the most stable storage isn’t rewritable. The 5D optical storage disks hold 360TB and could potentially last billions of years…

Very much agree with your comments. I do favor the ability to easily download the site for offline use too!

This was pretty funny.

@Toddkapper Probably a concept within a relatable framework, similar to what Paul did on Mars Hill.

Doing a deep spring cleaning and finally hitting Heidi’s room. It is amazing how much junk you can amass and still feel sentimental about it. So many memories of her being a baby and those precious times. Time to purge though.

@sirjerrykhurl I miss lake Johnson, used to be my daily run. Ran around it 6 times one night. The trees have grown. I’ll never get credit for it, but I started the Krispy Kreme Challenge in 2002.

@RikerGoogling “We are Borg. Your rent-free existence is over. We will subtract your biological and technological stinkiness from our own. You will be defecated. Resistance is futile.”

@christopher I have a work phone that a use a bit too, but I do use the Librem pretty often. I keep saying that I’m going to put a SIM card in it, but haven’t had the need yet. I use SIP for calls, XMPP for texts, Tootle for ActivityPub stuff, FoxtrotGPS for maps.

@christopher @janvlug @thomas I enjoy using my Librem 5 and I’m tempted to get another one for family. There really isn’t a better alternative to Apple or Android and most people need to understand that they are leading society down some dystopian paths. It’s far from perfect, but Librem 5 can get you by.
